Who Are Organizational Leadership/Examiners? The Board of Examiners is comprised of volunteers from all levels of all types of organizations. They have experience and expertise in business, not-for-profits, for-profits, health care, education, and government agencies. Some participants are self-employed and/or retired.
How Do I Become An Organizational Leadership/ Examiner? No application is required to become an Examiner. When you register and attend the Organizational Leadership/Examiner training, you will receive the paperwork necessary to request to serve as a volunteer examiner. You will have the choice to serve on an Application Team with a Site Visit or one without a Site Visit.
Organizational Leadership/Examiner Benefits. Serving as a volunteer requires a significant amount of time, effort, and dedication. However, there are some incredible benefits such as:

- Opportunity to learn first-hand innovative approaches utilized by leading organizations
- A working knowledge of the Baldrige Framework
- Networking with other quality-minded peers
- Development of assessment and analytic skills
- Ability to move up in leadership assignments such as Backup Team Leader, Team Leader, Process Coach, and Judge
Organizational Leadership/Examiner Expectations. Organizational Leadership/Examiners analyze, evaluate, provide carefully scripted feedback, and score applications submitted to the Quality Texas Foundation representing organizations in Texas, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Missouri, Kansas, Louisiana, and other selected organizations in Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Participants are trained on the Malcolm Baldrige Framework (Criteria) for Performance Excellence plus the latest research from a number of other sources such as Harvard Business School, MIT/Sloan Management, and a number of other world-class institutions. Additionally, research from the latest and best-rated business books is also utilized. This training has been referred to as Baldrige on steroids. Expectations include the following:
- Work independently as well as on a truly diverse and highly educated team
- Adhere to due dates and assignment instructions in the best form of process management
- Adhere to confidentiality and ethics policies
- Attend and participate in highly interactive and dynamic training
- Participate in team calls and email communications
- Attend and actively participate in a Site Visit (selected Award and Progress Level applications)
There are also opportunities to serve on a Team for the lower-level applications that do not have a Site Visit (Commitment, Engagement, and Progress Level without a Site Visit).
Organizational Leadership/Examiner Team Placement. Individuals are carefully selected for assignments to teams to complete the evaluation process.

January-February | Receive a special Continuous Improvement Certification from the University of Texas at El Paso; (Award/Progress Level only; Site Visit required) |
June (following year) | Receive special recognition at the Annual Conference |

Fees
The registration fee for each in-person, 3-day training session is $850. The registration fee for each online, 3-day training session is $750. The fee for 1-day training session is $300. If 10 members from an organization attend the same 3-day training, please contact virginia@quality-texas.org for a $100 per person discount.
